This isn't as political a collection as usual, strangely enough since most of it's set during an election year, but we do see the women's cautious optimism at the end of the Reagan-Bush era change to Lois's "Ahh, endorse my butt, Bill."  Mostly the focus is on the spawn of the title (including a bonus story of Clarice giving birth to Rafael, with friends gathered round, helpful and helpless to varying degrees), although Harriet dumping Mo is also important.  (It takes Mo about a year to get over, and then she gets a crush on Thea, who already has a serious partner.)  For a change, Sparrow's love life is featured, as June appears.

Once again, the best part is the "union meeting," where the characters air their gripes.  When Thea complains that she's being ignored (this is before Mo's crush), Naomi says, "You think you have it bad?  Try being a Jew in this goyisher cartoon!  I got used once in a Passover strip 5 years ago, then bubkes!"  Perhaps Bechdel took this hint, because she does reintroduce Naomi, now with a boyfriend.  Mo in particular feels that bisexuality is a sellout.  Ginger is more tolerant, although I don't remember her taking it well when Sparrow's relationship after June is with a man.

But that will be in the slightly distant future, and first Sparrow and the others will be Unnatural Dykes to Watch Out For in 1995....
